Starting Seeds Early Without Grow Lights
Просмотров 5805 месяцев назад
In this video I will show you a way to start seeds early, so you can get a head start in the garden. This method doesn't require grow lights, greenhouses, or winter sowing. I recommend starting small, as to not overwhelm yourself. One or two seed trays with cells typically holds a good number of plants. This is a good way to get a lot of extra plants if you have limited space for grow lights in...

Easy Acidic Potting Soil Recipe for Growing Blueberries in Containers
Просмотров 51 тыс.2 года назад
An easy to make blueberry potting soil recipe that I have been using for five years now, with a few variations. It works great for growing blueberry bushes in containers. You can adjust the recipe to your preference, just remember that the pine bark mulch and Sphagnum Peat Moss are key ingredients and should make up a large portion of the mix. In the past I have replaced some of the garden soil...

What kind of lettuce is this? Mine doesn't look as good as yours
I planted seeds indoors on April 28th, in large coir cups (pint sized I think... It is August third and I am just seeing female flowers for the first time. The vines grow up to a foot per day, SOME days, about 4 or 5 feet long now. I tried to q tip pollinate but it is evening and no pollen came off I could see BUT I tried just in case. The flowers are closing tonight so will try again in the morning thanks to your video. I am new, and considering bringing them indoors for winter if I can haul their huge pots (New pots about 2 feet deep and near two feet across at top). I guess melons do not like coir... Or is it ok they are not very big vines YET? I give an inch of water a day usually, sometimes it rains. Full sun (12 14 hours) with just a couple hours of shade.
got a question. I have the herbicide drift. Will the toamtoee turn brown because of it? Thanks because I'm trying to get non with brown spots next year
I left one tomato plant in the garden that was affected by herbicide drift, the fruits do not have brown spots on them. Are the spots mushy and brown, and on the bottom of the tomatoes? If so, it is probably blossom end rot.
@@ChristasGarden towards the top. Kinda doesn't look like blossom end rot either. Thanks
One some of mine there's bump like you said, the green ones
I have the round green ones that look like yours the tendrols are dried on some, does the end stem have to be dried as well. I have another that's round but green, sugar ones I think, sorry I forgot the last name.
Eewww we are eating watermelon pregnancies 😢😢😢😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ha…hahaha…a hahaha 😂literal tears….we are barbarians
I got this on a tomaoto plant and 2 other toamtoes. I had another youtuber help me out no offense. Goad you have this out there. I sprayed with telastar p. And a lawn care company sprayed also. Early girl is a fast variety. Also juliet hybird is a fast one also hope that can help i like geting stuff fast lol
Would herbicide drift also cause the tomatoes to have rust or bad spots on them? Thanks
Check out my channel for my first time growing watermelon. I have one in a 5 gallon bucket and one in ground. I just found your channel and am enjoying it. 👍🏻
Answered all my questions Thanks
Why are my watermelons not green but they are really big?
What color are they? Watermelon rinds come in various shades of green and some are even yellow.
Ok but what do i do about the top that broke off
Your voice is so calming.I could listen to you all day 😊 I'm starting to grow in containers..I'm glad i can across your video because you just showed me I'm doing everything right .. and I see my stems are long and leaves are big and green 💚 the only thing I didn't do was pollinate 😢but the thing is, you just explained just what I was looking for.. thank you very much 😊 it's 8 am. here, and my flowers are open, so I'm going to pollinate right now.. Thanks all the way from Detroit
🎉❤ Thank you so much for your help, have a great harvest.😊
Nice clear and concise video. Thanks for showing us what we need to see.
How can u tell the females from male flowers?
What if you don’t have grow lights?
Will be doing the 3rd way tonight. Thank you. 🧜🏿♀️🐍
thats not correct at all, it is actually good to leave a melon on cooler shaded area after picking, it will get sweeter.
That is true for cantaloupes but not watermelons.
@@ChristasGarden it is the same for watermelon.... well I don't know about cantaloupes in either case.
@@gamerclownz2783 I am sorry, but that information is not correct. Look it up. Watermelons do not continue to ripen once they are picked. I grew my first watermelon when I was 23 and am now 44. I grow them every year and have loads of experience, not just in my little garden. We have a farm field where we grow pumpkins and corn every year, but every couple of years, we also grow a bunch of watermelon plants there as well.
@@ChristasGarden well I'm new to watermelons but I know that they ripen from other experienced growers.
Thank you for making it short, sweet, and straight to the point!!
All useful information! Thank You 💕 🌱🍉
Wow......
You just said you'd love to get to 2k subscribers. Congratulations. As I watched you were at 38k. Wonderful!
TheKiwiGrower was the channel.....
I watched a video of a guy in New Zealand growing a variety of melon called " Gold-in-gold", have you heard of it? I bought the seeds and they are growing along with 2 other varieties in my garden this year. Thanks for this video !
Looks delicious. I hope you have a beautiful day sweetheart
That's too heavy. You need 2 shovels of sand and more PINE BARK FINES. Commercial guys use Pine Bark Fines and sand. Btw, all these soils needs like 6 months before microbs grow and become acidic. Plant in fall if you can, if not, plant whenever and wait.
My bushes have been growing in this mix for years, they are still doing great. There is always more than one way to achieve good results when it comes to growing plants.
just stab it in there? that's what she said, literally lol.
Ty! I am in mobile Alabama. It’s about to be July and I bought a growth bag and was just about to start planting lettuce but I hear you say it doesn’t do well in hot weather. In your opinion, would it not be alright to start it if I can grow it more in a shaded area? I’m eager to grow my own lettuce this summer.
I can grow Pansies, fuchsias, geraniums, lobelia---almost everything, year-round where I live---in the high Andes mountains in Ecuador.
Thanks, I'm growing in a greenhouse, so not sure if enough bees are getting in. This is helpful
I love that you get right to the point, and use what you have on hand
Ever just put a whole strawberry into the soil to grow?
Very informative, thank you!
Im a Pro with This Pollinating Movement, Thanks for the Great Video!
You could have shortened the video by 45 seconds if you would SHARPEN THOSE SCISSORS😀😉
Aww they are so cute❤ keep an eye on them!
Hi Christa. I am planting sugar baby today. I bought them from the big box store because they were on sale and I can only grow in containers, on pavement. I am just brushing up on growing them and I am already behind transplanting them and we have a heatwave coming in a few days! Thanks and take care
Hi Christa. I am planting my watermelons today and wanted to double-check how I was planning on planting them. Thanks and take care
I’m growing Black Diamond and Jubilee watermelon. Waiting patiently 😁 Thanks for the video and info
The only thing I have had to fight are hornworms. I live in OK. However, last year I planted basil and marigolds in grow bags with sweet cherry 100’s and never had any problems. My husband hated the tomatoes growing up and falling over so this year I’m experimenting with a single stem or two and a long wooden stake that I continue to wrap the vines with velcro tape. I have covered them with 40% shade cloth. Crossing my fingers!
This can't be nice and very frustrating.
They're precious and beautiful. I had a rabbit make a nest in one of my raised beds once. One of the babies wound up dying then she moved the other one. Haven't had anymore nests since then.
I hope the mother is coming back after you've been so close to the nest 🐇
She does, I just saw her this morning. We have found lots of rabbit nests over the years. Mother rabbits only come to the nest once or twice a day. They stay away, so that predators don't notice the nest. Their milk is very rich, so once or twice a day is enough for the baby bunnies. Unfortunately, my husband has also accidentally hit some nests with the lawn mower.
So precious! 😍
It looks like ther might be 7 of them. I hope you keep us posted 😃
Have you tried starting a Jimmy nardello in a pot from seed like now? I did it last year and still got lots of peppers closer to the fall 😊just a thought
They grew really fast bc of the warm weather
Those tiny little ears, are adorable ❣️❣️we had a nest in our lawn and thankfully my husband saw them before he mowed❣️❣️❣️thank you for sharing this ❣️❣️🦔🥰🧚♀️🧚🏻🐰🐰🐇🐇
Wow they look soo cute
